Liam Payne father identified his son's body

The father of British singer Liam Payne identified his son’s body this Friday, October 18, at the Buenos Aires morgue in Argentina.

He then collected the belongings of the former One Direction band member from the hotel in the capital where he died three days ago.

Geoff Payne, who arrived early in the morning at Ezeiza Airport, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, first went to the prosecutor’s office.

Afterwards, he went to the city’s morgue, according to local television footage that followed his movements.

Fans welcome Liam Payne’s father

Liam Payne’s father spent half an hour at the morgue and later headed to the Casa Sur Hotel.

Visibly grief-stricken and escorted by Buenos Aires police officers, he was welcomed by a group of the artist’s fans.

The girls had set up a shrine in front of the hotel, according to information from The Associated Press.

Geoff Payne came out, looked at the photos, and read some of the letters left by his son’s fans at the makeshift altar.

The fans, in respectful silence, formed a human chain, linking arms to separate Liam Payne’s father from the journalists.

The man then looked at each of them and said «thank you» in English.

His closest family members (his mother Karen Payne and his two sisters, Ruth and Nicola) expressed their devastation over the loss.

«Liam will live forever in our hearts, and we will remember him for his kind, fun, and brave soul.»

«We are supporting each other as best we can as a family, and we ask for respect for our privacy and space during this terrible time.»

Liam Payne’s former bandmates from One Direction issued a joint statement saying they were «completely devastated.»

Celebrities, artists, and other famous figures from various countries have expressed their sorrow over his death.

The singer died from the injuries and internal and external bleeding caused by the fall, according to the autopsy (WATCH THE VIDEO HERE).
